Play Protect doesn't recognize this app

The Play Protect string is the H1. The fix is the official package (Trust Wallet: com.wallet.crypto.trustapp), not a toggle that disables Protect.

If Play Protect doesn't recognize this app while you install a wallet APK, stop. That warning is for sideloaded packages Play has not seen — including almost every fake Trust Wallet.

Official Trust Wallet is com.wallet.crypto.trustapp from Play via trustwallet.com. Hash an APK here only if you already have the file and need to know it is the catalog snapshot — then still prefer Play.

Do this now

  1. Do not tap Install anyway. That button is the incident. Uninstall if it already landed. Do not open it and “just look.”
  2. Install from Play using the official package. Trust Wallet example: com.wallet.crypto.trustapp. MetaMask Android is the Play listing from metamask.io, package io.metamask.
  3. If you must identify an APK, hash it here. Preset trust-wallet_android. A match is integrity against our snapshot, not permission to ignore Play Protect on a random APK.

Disabling Play Protect to install a wallet is how Android drainers win. The APK guide is verify a wallet APK — it does not tell you to disable Protect.

What Play Protect cannot do

It cannot replace a SHA-256 compare against the developer’s artifact. It also cannot save a seed you type into a fake UI after a successful Play install of the real app (phishing sites still exist).

What does Play Protect doesn't recognize this app mean for a wallet?

You are installing a package Play has not classified — usually a sideloaded APK. For Trust Wallet, use com.wallet.crypto.trustapp from Play instead of Install anyway.

Can I hash the APK and ignore Play Protect?

Hashing identifies the file. It is not a Play Protect override. Prefer the official Play listing. Use the hasher when you already have an APK to inspect.
